We enjoyed a great training session with Blue the Cocker Spaniel, of course he performed best on the Blue Cato Board.
Blue's lesson was all about tiding things up, his recall is good but the finish is all a bit messy, lots of running around his handlers feet and taking time to settle and sit nicely. We used a drill that incorporated multiple controls in one, Sit/Stay along with reinforcing the recall and a tidy finish, the Cato Board gave Blue a clear target for the recall and promoted an instant sit and removed all the messy wasted time that was normally seen at the end of the recall. This drill can be started with the Cato Boards close together and built up over time moving the Cato Boards further apart.
